National Archives of Qatar Launched "Beyond the Court" Exhibition on Thursday 27 August

A documentary journey through the story of basketball across the decades — from the origins of the game and its spread, and the founding of the International Basketball Federation, to the defining moments and figures of the World Cup, and on to the establishment of the Qatar Basketball Federation and the game’s presence in Qatar.
The exhibition brings together a range of archival content and selected historical items, connecting history, sport and documentary heritage, alongside recorded interviews with figures who shaped the game locally and regionally.
It comes as Qatar prepares to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, bringing audiences closer to the history of the game and reflecting the role of the National Archives of Qatar in documenting national memory in all its forms, including sporting history, and making it available to researchers and the public in modern ways.
